19/02/2006 - New white cubs in Mama Tau !

Dear friends, It’s me again, Sebaka. 
As you can see, I grew up quite a lot since my last newsletter, and I am getting stronger by the day. I am now old enough to live with other lions, and I really enjoy having some friends to play with… First things first, the whole team in Mama Tau is joining me to wish a wonderful year 2006 to all of you, your families, and your friends. In order to start this new year with some good news, please allow me to introduce 2 newcomers, born in Mama Tau in last December : these new white cubs have been rejected by their mother, but Dirk & Beveley are taking good care of them. My two cousins are now 2½ months old and growing quickly ; they already weigh 9.5 kg, and are now starting to eat meat. As you can see on the picture below, one of them is proudly posing for the photographer… guess why ? Because it is a young lady, the first one born in Mama Tau !! I quickly stopped expecting any help from these lazy guys to write my quarterly newsletter, as they just spend the whole day playing, eating and… I cannot believe I was still so small and childish just a few months ago, and do not understand why everybody is spoiling these two fluffy little things… If you would like to see some more pictures of these young rascals, just click on the picture below, or on the following link : white cubs pics.
The other animals on the farm are quite happy as well, as they received a lot of rain, and now have plenty of food ; zebras, wildebeest, impalas and warthogs did have some babies as well, but curiously they do not come and play with me, I guess that they must still be a bit shy. As regards to the male giraffes… it seems that they should be explained again the whole story about birds & bees, as the family is not growing a lot… Our brand new Tented Camp is now open for nearly three months, and receiving more and more guests ; December was quite a busy month and plenty of people came to visit us, taking hundreds of pictures. Actually, the whole 2005 has been a busy and hectic year, and the Mama Tau team has been working very hard, building the Self Catered Tented Camp, roads for hiking and bird watching, breeding me and my family (thanks!), and making everything nice to welcome our visitors. Last but not least, we are happy to announce the opening of a small & nice restaurant, to have some snacks & drinks after your visit to the lions… One last thing : they asked me to let you know that a Golf Package is now available in Mama Tau, in partnership with the Mogol Golf Club in Lephalale !
